My take on beginner-friendly cornhole boards.

Looking to make an easy DIY Cornhole Board? Well, you came to the right place!

Cornhole is an outdoor game where the object is to throw a bean bag into a hole. From my experience here in Missouri, it’s quite clear that most mid-westerners know that the quantity of fun is directly proportional to the amount of alcohol consumed. That said, kids can also enjoy the game of cornhole and that’s why my wife asked me to build a set of cornhole boards for an upcoming school event. I honestly tried my best to get out of it but she said those words all woodworkers dread, “Fine, I’ll just go buy them!” It was at that moment that my fate was sealed.

Don’t get me wrong, a cornhole board is a fine project. But do a quick Google search and you’ll see there are already thousands of videos and blogs out there documenting the building of this wonderful yard game. So what could I possibly bring to the party? Turns out, not a whole lot. But I decided that if I was oging to make something like this, I’d do my best to use minimal materials and minimal tooling. Considering we’re a little strapped for cash after the Firehouse purchase, an easy DIY cornhole board fit the bill nicely.

While I didn’t make plans for this project, you can find hundreds of free plans with a quick search. Feel free to use those while implementing the tools and techniques shown here.
