This is an update of my shop, which I shared a couple of years ago. I’m a hobbyist woodworker from Oklahoma. I have been into woodworking since 2011 and have been building my shop ever since. My shop is my 2-car garage, 20’ x 20’ with a 9’ x 19’ tandem nook in the back where I will have my future Split Top Roubo from the Guild. I like to be shop organized and I’m constantly thinking of ways to improve efficiency in my shop.I built all the base and wall cabinets in my shop and everything has it’s own place, so I know exactly where everything is. I keep my shop clean so all of the large tools are connected to a Laguna cyclone dust collector via 6” Nordfab ducting, total of 3 drops and 5 blast gates. All of my smaller tools are Festool which are always used with the Festool dust collectors. Half of my projects over the last few years have been shop projects and furniture projects for our house.
I look forward to what I can create over the next 5 years!

That’s a great workshop setup!I’ve just bought myself a Festool cutoff saw, same model as you have there, and have been looking at designs and ideas for its workstation for the last couple of weeks. I really like the clean setup you have for it, and will build something along similar lines – so thanks for sharing your layout :)

Sweet! I just put together my Sawstop & Nordfab ductwork, too! They work very well together…hardly any dust. And, of course, you can not go wrong with Festool! I was thinking it would be cool to have the clamping element holes in the Kapex out feed supports just for clamping down certain work pieces like the Paulk Miter Stand system but that would eliminate the drawers you have under the supports.Excellent shop… it is right up there with the Wood Whisperer, himself!

I have seen Lance’s shop in person, the pics don’t do justice to how neat and clean everything is.

Very nice shop, I did have a question on your Jet Jointer/Planer combo machine. How do you like it? I am thinking about getting one, but have not read many reviews is there a lot of snipe? etc. And is the change over pretty quick, are there adjustments you can make on the rollers to prevent snipe if you need to.Thanks Stephen

Not sure if my last post went over I like your shop. And wanted to see how happy you are with your Jet planer/combo is there a lot of snipe?

Stephen, I like my Jet combo machine, it’s pretty easy to switch from Jointer to Planner, snipe is minimal, but I think that had to do with technique not the machine. I wish the beds were about 6-10″ longer on each side, other then that I’m pretty impressed, I did go with the helical cutter head, worth the money.

I just received the same combo machine but haven’t used it yet. I couldn’t stretch any higher for the helical head but it looks like I can upgrade the cutter head unit later on to one.
